Befriending Service Birchwood began our befriending programme in response to the Covid crisis and it has since evolved into a broader service to support those in our communities who are the most socially isolated. Based on the enabling/empowering social prescribing model, staff and trained volunteers make a weekly call to clients focusing on their specific needs and interests. Through these conversations, our Social Inclusion Team can engage and encourage them to access Birchwood’s local social activities and community support, to improve their social connections and re-engage with their local communities. Our holistic and wraparound services include access to our mental health and wellbeing team offering emotional support, talking therapies and advocacy service. If you or you know someone who would benefit from accessing our service, please contact our Social Inclusion Team on 01695 728391 for more information or complete our online referral form by clicking here.
