I am a commissioner enquiring about service provision

Birchwood Counselling Service (BCS) has significant experience of delivering one to one counselling to clients on behalf of a broad range of commissioners. 

As an awarding winning organisation managed by the Birchwood umbrella, commissioners benefit from an experienced service delivery model supported by a robust infrastructure consisting of; 

  • Board of directors – BCS benefits from an experienced board of directors, specifically recruited to support the organisation deliver key services within the local community, to oversee the organisations strategic goals and quality assure services.
  • Experienced management team – Our experienced management team have a wealth of experience spanning the last 40 years of housing, support and healthcare services. Providing a robust infrastructure to deliver on key contracts and locally supported projects.
  • Experienced counselling team – Our counsellors have relevant up to date qualifications and experience, offering the latest in research and development to ensure our clients and commissioners receive high quality counselling services.
  • Research – Our organisation has a commitment to research and development of services, ensuring that service delivery is client centred.
  • Psychologically informed environments (PIE) – BCS has locations across the West Lancashire area and can offer clients a space which is convenient and appropriate for them. For commissioners this means that the catchment area of services is widened and more inclusive.
  • Quality assured – As an award-winning organisation the Birchwood has proven experience and expertise in high quality service delivery for many service commissioners. Our robust infrastructure and commitment to quality improvements and quality assurance assures those purchasing our services that Birchwood can sustain the quality and financial commitments to service delivery.
  • Fit for purpose – The counselling services has been developed by several experienced counselling practitioners, counselling lecturers and management. With the appropriate policies and procedures in place to safeguard clients and support contractual obligations to service commissioners.
  • Cost effective – As an organisation experienced within service development and ongoing contracts with a several of commissioners, our experience of bid and tender writing demonstrates our capacity to ensure that service development areas are costed accurately and in line with commissioner’s expectations.
  • Professional – As an organisation that has been providing services to the local community for the past 40 years, Birchwood had received several quality assurance awards, including GSK Impact awars. The organisational infrastructure and counselling staff are recruited, monitored and supported to ensure that services are always delivered within the professional and contractual obligations of our commissioners.

 

  • Measurable – Birchwood delivers service delivery and client outcomes data within a range of our existing contracts, providing commissioners with up to date, accurate information and statistic data to represent the service and outcomes met, ensuring quality improvement.

 

  • Outcome measurement tools - The counselling service uses a range of outcomes measurement tools in line with IAPT guidelines, including; PHQ9; GAD7; WSAS and others.

Birchwood's Response to COVID-19

As this time of great uncertainty and worry the individuals, families and local communities that rely on Birchwood services remain at the heart of all our decisions and we will continue to ensure they continue to be our number one priority.

Self-Isolation doesn't have to mean social isolation' project, is a Birchwood In the Community response to the coronavirus crisis and provides timely and vital support to extremely vulnerable individuals and families within our local community. The response and feedback has been amazing and tells us that we are reaching and making a difference to the lives of individuals at risk of social isolation, mental health crisis and homelessness. 

Our project aims to reduce the negative impact on already fragile communities as much as possible and sends out a clear message that YOU are not alone and WE are all in this together.
