About the service

Birchwood counselling service provides clients with ongoing, weekly, face to face counselling sessions.  Each session will last for one hour and will take place with a fully trained, dedicated counselling professional.

Our clients will see the same counsellor each week and they will have significant experience of supporting people with a variety of emotional support needs.

What do we offer?

Reduced waiting times – Clients can usually expect to begin their counselling sessions within two weeks of initial contact.

A choice of location – We have several locations within the Skelmersdale and Lancashire area, supporting clients to access services at a location that best suits them.

A Person-Centred Approach – We do not direct clients or advise them what to do but support them to explore areas of their own lives including choices that are in their best interests.  Unlike other approaches we do not ask clients to complete homework or take action outside of sessions.  This is up to the client themselves and the sessions are fully client led.  For further information on the different types of counselling please follow this link https://www.bacp.co.uk/about-therapy/types-of-therapy/

Support to access other local services – As Birchwood Counselling Service is part of a large organisation, we are able to support our clients to engage in services they feel may be helpful to them.  This includes; family mediation; social support; housing; financial support and advice; mental health services and many other local and national services.

Quality assurance - All our counsellors are members of the British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists.  This is an ethical body which ensures that our counsellors deliver services and behave in ways which are ethical and legal so that our client can be sure they are receiving a professional service.  To see more about the BACP please click here https://www.bacp.co.uk/

Fully insured – Our organisation including our counsellors are fully insured ensuring that clients are safe and protected.
