URGENT CORONAVIRUS APPEAL - self-isolation doesn't have to mean social isolation.

Birchwood is calling on individuals and local businesses who might be in a position to support, donate and help our most vulnerable as the country prepares for lockdown. Funding will be used to provide much needed funds to deliver a Birchwood in the Community  initiative 'self-isolation doesn't have to mean social isolation project, a social isolation support service in response to the Coronavirus. 

Staff and volunteers at Birchwood have been working hard everyday, on the frontline offering vital support and provision targeting vulnerable individuals and families as the country prepares for a social and economic crisis.

The impact of the Coronavirus on their lives will not doubt put pressure on fragile communities already experiencing a wide range of health and social problems, having serious implications both short term and long term. Our service aims to reduce this negative impact as much as possible and to send out a clear message that YOU are not alone, and WE are all in this together". 

What will funding provide?

FOOD: We will continue to deliver prepared meals, food hampers and essential items to our most vulnerable members of our community who include;

• the elderly
• Individuals with underlying health conditions
• individuals at risk of a mental health crisis
• families on low incomes 

CHAT/COMPANY:  We will ensure staff and volunteers are on hand for individuals at risk of social isolation at critical times. Providing a life-line, an ear to talk to and help and advice at this very difficult and uncertain time.  Telephone calls and social media will be used to reduce face to face contact.

SUPPORT: We will offer a collect and deliver door to door delivery service for individuals who are self-isolating, at risk  who need medication and essential items.
