It’s official! Birchwood have launched a new ‘person centred’ counselling service. Operating from the Ecumenical centre in Skelmersdale, our confidential service aims to support those who need it within their community, including young people aged 14 and upward, and their families.
We’ll be working closely with Edge Hill University and a range of established colleges, whose counsellors in training volunteer their time.
Our service also benefits from the voluntary efforts of various qualified counsellors, who offer funded sessions to those who meet the eligibility criteria, which is discussed with individuals prior to any service starting.
Coordinator, Emma Lawton says “We are immensely proud of the support we offer young people and their families. The new service allows us to further meet those needs in a therapeutic and skilled way offering in a quality service to clients.”
“We recognise that a holistic approach to services, supports the positive outcomes of individuals and our long-standing local agency partnerships will allow us to contribute to the overall mental health and well-being of residents in our community”.
Our Service is now up and running and referrals can be made directly by individuals or by professionals, by contacting the centre. Additionally, we have a Facebook page specific to our Counselling service where you can find more updates and contact us directly.
